Unemployment queue gets a little longer

THE unemployment queue in Craigavon got a little longer in the past month.

An extra 46 people claimed unemployment related benefits during March, representing a rise in the jobless figures of 1.4%.

42 redundancies were recorded during the month which didn’t help the rising claimant count.

During the course of the year Craigavon as a district has suffered an 8.3% rise in unemployment. This equates to an extra 253 claimants.

Of the 3,314 claimants in Craigavon 960 are women and 2,354 men.
