Car accident woman in '˜stable' condition

The woman injured in a traffic collision in Park Road yesterday (Monday) is in a stable condition in Craigavon Area Hospital, a hospital spokesperson has said.

The pedestrian, who is in her 70s, was trapped under the car in the incident which took place around 1.15 in the afternoon.

A spokesperson for NI Fire and Rescue Service said the woman was removed by firefighters using equipment to lift the car.

Three fire appliances attended the scene and the woman was freed shortly after 1.45.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesperson said that following reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian, one Rapid Response Vehicle and one A&E crew attended.

The patient was assessed and treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Craigavon Area Hospital.

Park Road and surrounding streets remained cordoned off for a number of hours while police carried out investigations.
