The popular Carols for the People which has been held in Lurgan for more than 40 years is to be held at Shankill Parish Church this Sunday evening December 15 at 7.30pm.

From 7.15pm there will be the customary community carol singing as the choirs, band and congregation gather in the church.

The Mayor of Craigavon Borough Council together with the Aldermen and Councillors will be welcomed at the Church by Shankill Parish Rector, Rev Geoff Wilson just before the service starts at 7.30pm.

Taking part this year will be the choirs from the Dickson and Model Primary Schools along with local choir Cantabile, Shankill Parish Church Choir, Lurgan Salvation Army Band and Songsters.

This very popular event has been held annually in Lurgan for over forty years, raising funds for various charities.

Proceeds this year are going to Care in Crisis, a local charity founded over nineteen years ago.

The organisation offers a professional therapeutic counselling service to individuals, couples and families experiencing a range of problems and difficulties.
