Bleary Young Farmers’ Club members past and present recently celebrated with friends in Brownlow House to mark the group’s 85th anniversary.
Special guests included Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster’s Martyn Blair (president), Robert Simmons (deputy president) and James Speers (vice-president).
Mary Bloomer MBE, a former Bleary club president, offered some of her memories before helping to cut the anniversary cake.
Current Bleary officials such as William McCracken (club leader), Heather Wilson (club president) and Louise Halliday (assistant secretary) entertained the audience, plus delivered the vote of thanks and grace.
“It was a memorable evening, with a four-course meal, raffle, charity auction ahd music provided by Asbury Gents.” said Bleary club secretary Emma Boyes. “Our thanks go to Brownlow House, the guest speakers, Rodney Clarke for his auctioneering skills and those from the business community who offered support.”
The charity auction raised £520 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
