As if that wasn’t enough, Conleth is also preparing for a concert in Belfast - Christmas Unplugged, which will showcase the best in local talent.

Stunned by the success of ‘The Grass is Always Greener’ which saw almost 100,000 facebook hits in a week, the Lurgan singer has now made a few minor changes to the track.

“It sounds beautiful,” said Conleth. “I recorded it in Miloco Studios in London where Adele, Oasis and Florence and the Machine do a lot of their recording.

“There’s a real atmosphere on the song. I wanted it to sound like I had recorded it in a chapel, so then when it came to actually filming the video in an actual chapel, the end result looks and sounds perfect. I would say this is the best work of my career.”

Having decided to record the video with award winning film director George Clarke, Conleth chose St Peter’s, Lurgan as the setting as it had special significance for him. “As the months have gone by the song has become less about my ex-partner and more about my grandmothers,” explained Conleth. “I was so close to them and the song overall is about loss. The lyric is so simple, yet so strong ‘But, You’re not here... anymore’.

“I wanted to film it in St Peters because I wanted to come home and dedicate it to my Grandmothers. I had to complete the journey of this song properly and feel them both right beside me whilst filming it, and it worked, St Peter’s were ever so accommodating and I am forever grateful. Little did I think on my last visit there that my next time in there would be to film a music video.”

“My concert is called ‘Christmas Unplugged’ and it’s on at the Black Box in Belfast on Sunday, December 18,” added Conleth.

“I did my debut solo concert there two years ago and it was one of the best nights of my life. This year I have focused on getting into the recording studio and releasing my own music which has been an extremely enriching experience so the show this time will have more of an acoustic vibe.

“I have invited Lurgan’s Meabh Carlin and Hannah McCauley (The Goretti Girls) to be my special guests and I have also invited my family friend and neighbour Declan McKerr to accompany me on guitar. It’s going to be a very intimate evening of festive music and some of my own material.

“Meabh and Declan are two of the most musical people I have ever come across. Their talent inspires me.

“I really wanted to share the stage with the cream of Lurgan’s talent. Meabh is one of the most captivating singer/songwriters and I think what she and Hannah McCauley have achieved with ‘The Goretti Girls’ is pretty special.

“As for Declan, he is a rockstar waiting to happen. It will be an absolute honour to have them up there with me.”

There is no doubt this has been a whirlwind year for Conleth and one that still isn’t over yet.

“This year has been brilliant,” said the Lurgan man.

“To hear my songs ‘River’ and ‘Giving It Up’ on the radio was a dream come true.

“Last Christmas, my mum and I were in the car and my song ‘River’ came on directly after Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ and I just looked at her and thought this is a moment I will never forget - the best Christmas present ever.

“Also, hosting Belfast Pride was pretty brilliant. I am just a lad from Lurgan and I got to host the biggest LGBT party of the year.

“Oh, and singing with PINK, or having Christmas dinner with Pamela Anderson. I have had some really awesome opportunities.”

There’s no doubt there are exciting things in the offing for Conleth but what are his hopes?

“Apart from the night of the concert this is my first Christmas in a decade I’ve had off.

“My sister and her family are moving to the other side of the world in 2017 so I wanted quality time with them and to also just focus my energy on the single release and the concert.

“wWho knows what 2017 will hold for me, as long as I am healthy and have my family and friends, that’s all that matters.

“Obviously I will continue to strive to do what I do best, which is perform. “
