A meeting to discuss the Dickson Plan between the Progressive Unionist Party and the Southern Education and Library Board has been decribed as constructive.
PUP representatives from Lurgan and Portadown attended a meeting with SELB executives recently to discuss various options available for the re-organisation of post-primary education within the Dickson Plan area.
A spokesperson for the PUP commented: “The meeting was constructive for both parties and we are pleased that the proposals issued for discussion by the PUP have been well received.
“We will be continuing to meet with respective school bodies and individuals in the coming weeks and intend to further detail our options for the respective towns.
“We are fully committed to ensuring that the best interests of all the children in our community are taken account of in any final proposal offered by the board.”
