Call for urgent safety review after three injured in two car crash

Calls have been made for an urgent safety review after three people were injured in a two car crash in Co Armagh.

It follows an incident on Saturday afternoon at Lurgan’s Portadown Road when three people were taken to hospital.

One man was arrested and later street bailed.

Sinn Féin MLA John O’Dowd has said he will be contacting Road Service seeking an urgent safety review of the ‘dangerous road junction’ in Lurgan.

Mr O’Dowd said: “Following a serious accident at the Portadown Rd/ Gilpinstown Rd junction, I am calling for an urgent safety review of this dangerous junction.

“The junction has be scene to number of accidents in recent times and action needs to be taken.”

Police appealed for witnesses following the collision on Saturday (April 17th).

Inspector Rocks said: “At around 2.30pm police received a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the Portadown Road near the junction with Gilpinstown Road.

Three injured parties were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

“A 22-year-old man has been street bailed pending further enquiries.

“Enquiries are continuing and anyone with any information about this incident or who may be able to help with our investigation, is asked to call us on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1000 of the 17/04/21.
