Man accused of imprisoning two women

A 57 year old Craigavon man faces charges of imprisoning two women, one for more than 13 years and another for almost nine years.

He appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court on a litany of sex offences including rape, trafficking and aiding and abetting rape.

The man faces 15 charges in total, including inciting a person with a mental disability to perform a sex act, rape, trafficking and aiding and abetting rape. The prosecution requested reporting restrictions banning the media from identifying the defendant who appeared at Craigavon Court via video link on Friday.

The man is charged with two counts of false imprisonment, multiple counts of rape, indecent assault on a female, trafficking within the UK, two counts of voyeurism, and sexual activity involving penetration.

One charge relates to a woman imprisoned for more than 13 years between 1999 and 2013. The defendant is also accused of allowing unknown men to rape this woman for around 10 years between 1999 and 2009 plus he is charged with aiding, abetting and procuring this offence.

And he is accused of watching this woman perform sex acts against her will for six years between January 2004 and December 2012.

The accused is charged with imprisoning a second woman for almost nine years between January 2004 and December 2012.

He is also accused of multiple counts of raping and indecently assaulting the same woman between January 2004 and February 2009.

The defendant also faces a charge of trafficking the second woman between January and October 2004.

He is accused of voyeurism over a period of five years from January 2004 to February 2009 of sex acts knowing the other person didn’t consent to being observed. He is also accused of raping and buggering the same woman who it is said was unable to refuse because of a mental disorder.

He is to appear at Craigavon via video link on Friday November 1 to request bail.
