Dobson backs plans to boost '˜180' hopes

Recommendations by a Stormont committee to boost training and employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities have been welcomed by a local MLA.

Ulster Unionist Jo-Anne Dobson believes that proposals by the Department of Education and Learning committee could help support best training practice for young people with learning disabilities, including 180 Restaurant in Portadown.

Last week a delegation, including Fiona Rowan from 180, Ceara Principal Dr Peter Cunningham, Mrs Dobson, Robin Swann MLA and Cllr Doug Beattie MC, met with DEL Minister Stephen Farry to put the case for 180 Café which is currently threatened with closure.

“I believe these recommendations could pave the way to a future where organisations which offer an exemplary community service to people learning disabilities, like 180 Restaurant, will receive the support and recognition they deserve.”
