The move follows concerns being raised with local Councillor Mark Baxter over dog fouling in the area.

Cllr Baxter said: “I’ve had so many complaints lately about problem dog fouling particularly in Blackscull and Donacloney Main Street.

“I organised a clean up on Friday but council have also agreed to increase patrols and do a letter drop reminding irresponsible dog owners of their responsibilities.

“Fines will be imposed but if anyone has any information please report it to council or myself on 0783 3196 996.

“Not only is it disgusting it’s extremely dangerous for children and can cause blindness through toxocariasis, which is actually more common than you would think.”
