Detectives are appealing for information following a distraction burglary that occurred in the Oakridge area of Lurgan on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 31.
Just after 1.10pm, it was reported that two men went to a house saying that they were from the water board. One of the men showed what the resident thought was an identification card and she let them into her house. While one of the men worked at taps in the kitchen, another man stole handbags from a bedroom.
Detective Inspector Will Tate said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact CID at Lurgan Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Police are advising householders to think before they open their door, ask callers for ID and check it through the Quick Check number of 0800 013 22 90 and beware of callers attempting to distract you by claiming they have seen something in your back yard.
