William Irwin, MLA for Newry and Armagh welcomed the planned resurfacing of 3.2km stretch of Clare Rd.
Mr Irwin described it as a ‘great benefit’.
He said: “Whilst there is a growing list of roads in need of significant investment due to a lack of maintenance over the past few years, this investment in the Clare Road will at least see this surface greatly improved for residents and road users.

He voiced concern at the ‘huge backlog of repairs’ across the area with drivers sustaining damage to their vehicles on a regular basis. He said claims against Transport NI for vehicle damage continue to mount and called for more road repairs.
