Lidl have submitted plans for a new store at their Craigavon site at Highfield, it can be revealed.
According to a planning application, the international supermarket plans to demolish the current popular outlet and build a larger store on the same site.
The plans are for the existing Lidl premises at the Highfield Road/Balteagh Road junction in Craigavon.
The application reads: “Proposed demolition of existing Lidl (retail) store and construction of new larger Lidl (retail) store and associated car parking and site works.”
If approved the new store is expected to add an extra 800 square metres to the current premises.
And it is hoped the new store may employ an extra four staff and attract around 750 customers per day.
The application was submitted on July 4 this year and is deemed a ‘major application’.
It is currently under consultation with various bodies including NI Water and the NI Environment Agency as well as the Rivers Agency.
