Family escape after arson attack

A family, including a young child, escaped injury after a car was set alight at their home in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, April 30).

Detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime are appealing for information following the arson attack in the Summerhill Brae area of Banbridge.

Police received a report of a car on fire at around 2.40am. Officers attended and found that a car had been set alight.

The fire had also spread to a house, causing damage to the vehicle and the dwelling. A man and woman and their young child who were in the house at the time were not injured.

Detective Inspector Gawley said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who noticed any activity in this area in the hours prior to this incident. We can be contacted on 101.”
