THE popular Craigavon Lakes 10km Run and Fun Run is getting closer and anyone looking to take part is encouraged to enter as soon as possible.
The event, which will get underway at 7pm on Wednesday, June 5, is being organised by Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with St Peter’s Athletic Club.
Starting and finishing at Craigavon Watersports Centre, the route will take in the pathways around the picturesque Craigavon Lakes and City Parks areas.
For those participants who don’t fancy 10km, there will be a 5km fun run and also a 1km family challenge on the same evening. The 1km family challenge is open to everyone and can be completed by running or walking.
The charity for the event is the British Heart Foundation Mending Broken Hearts Appeal and sponsorship forms will be available.
The Council’s Sports Development Officer, Wanda Rea said: “The event promises to be a great sporting spectacle which should attract a good field of local athletes along with many visitors to the Borough. It is especially pleasing to see a 1km Family Challenge which will help make it a real family occasion.”
Dwyer O’Hagan, from St Peter’s Athletics Club, added: “This is an excellent event which has something for everyone, from the serious athlete to those who simply wish to participate for fun.”
