IT’S beginning to look a lot like Christmas at The Market Place Theatre in Armagh.
There’s the arrival of the panto dreams are made of – Sleeping Beauty - as well as a raft of other seasonal shows!
Prepare to be dazzled by the spectacular, full-scale traditional pantomime ‘Sleeping Beauty’, combining wonderful music, song and dance, colourful costumes, memorable characters, and loads of audience participation, in a lively and sparkling Christmas adventure. It’s time for the magic to begin and thousands of seats have already been already booked.
‘Sleeping Beauty’ started at The Market Place on Tueday of this week and will run to Sunday, December 23. Tickets are priced from £8 to £12.50.
The RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet, one of Europe’s most successful ensembles internationally recognised for its beauty of sound, clarity of texture and integrity of interpretation within an unusually wide and varied range of repertoire, returns to The Market Place on Thursday, December 6, at 8pm, accompanied by one of the most outstanding viola players, Nobuko Imai. With her exceptional talent, musical integrity and charisma, Nobuko Imai has appeared with orchestras including The Berlin Philharmonic, The Royal Concertgebouw, The London Symphony, and The Chicago Symphony. Tickets are priced £14.50 and £12.50 (concession).
Get in the festive swing and join the Market Place Theatre’s now renowned Jazz Supper Club on Saturday, December 8, at 8.30pm, featuring a specially prepared buffet inspired by the American South, and showcasing some of the best musicians performing on the jazz circuit today. Taking centre stage will be The Martello Jazz Band, who feature a sound reminiscent of the Dixieland bands of 1920s New Orleans, stamped with their own brand of drive and flair. Tickets are priced £21 which includes a hot supper.
Following hot on the heels of the critically-acclaimed ‘Tear Gas’ DVD and live shows, Jake O’Kane returns to The Market Place on Saturday, December 15, at 9pm, and this time he’s going to give you a ‘Mouthful’!
Where ‘Tear Gas’ covered growing up and surviving the Troubles, Jake’s latest show ‘Mouthful’ covers everything else. Jake will be taking a no-nonsense approach to relationships and religion, modern life to being ginger, and everything else in between. With his unique brand of observational humour and astute take on social commentary, this new live show reinforces Jake’s position as a comic at the top of his game. Tickets are priced £16 each. Strictly for age 18+ as this event may contain material that some people could find offensive.
