Six penalty points were imposed on a man and woman last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for insurance offences.
They were Mark Lyness (22) and Stacey McNally (26), both of Victoria Street, Lurgan.
Lyness was fined £100, and given six points for driving without insurance on July 17 this year. He was also fined £25 for not displaying ‘L’ plates.
McNally was fined £100 and given six points for permitting Lyness to drive without having insurance.
The court heard that police stopped a car being driven by Lyness on the Tandragee Road in Lurgan at 9.45pm. He told police he was an ‘L’ driver and he was not insured.
McNally was a front seat passenger and she was insured to drive the car.
Both defendants appeared in court and pleaded guilty themselves.
District Judge, Mr Peter King, said there was no suggestion they were wilfully ignoring the law.
