Craigavon’s only amateur photography club is celebrating three years of success and a growing membership.
Started by Shaun Greene and Lee Lavery, who met at a photography course, Focus Photography Club has inspired some amateurs to turn professional.
When Shaun Greene received a camera for Christmas a few years back little did he know it would be so inspirational.
His wife Fiona organised Shaun to join classes run by professional Tim Doak and the rest is history.
Around 2012, Shaun had been looking for more photography courses and while he found around 30 camera clubs across the province plus the NI Photographic Association, he was astonished that there were no camera clubs in the Lurgan, Portadown or Craigavon areas.
Shaun and Lee decided to start a club and within six months they had a dozen members. The group grew, became a constituted organisation and joined NIPA.
They organise competitions which also go forward to NIPA competitions so members are up against other amateurs from across the north.
There are talks on different aspects of photography, composition, street photography, macro photography, landscape, studio work and photoshop. They run club outings with the most recent one a very sociable trip to Dublin for some street photography and a pub visit.
The club meets every two weeks at Brownlow Hub. The next meeting is on Thursday 19th November at 7.30pm, Brownlow Community Hub,
