The court heard the defendant had been out on Antrim Street in the early hours of that date.

Police were tasked to an incident on Antrim Street, where they spoke to the defendant who said she had been trying to contact her partner as her three week old child had been unwell.

It was added that she told police her partner had been out for the evening and Kidd had wanted him to come home and help with the children.

The court heard that Kidd had her three-week-old baby with her and her two and half year old who were in their pyjamas.

The incident was captured on CCTV and showed an altercation between the defendant and her partner when Kidd was holding the three week old baby.

The other child was unsupervised during the altercation.

During interview the defendant admitted that the children had not been properly cared for at that time.

A defending solicitor told Antrim Magistrates that social services are now satisfied that the children are safe and they have been returned to the home.

Defence said: “If you did have concerns about the children’s welfare, social services are satisfied as the children have been returned.”

The court heard that the defendant had not accepted the charges initially which led to delays in the case.

Her partner accepted the offence and received a conditional discharge last year.

District Judge Mark Hamill said he would impose the same sentence that was imposed on the co-defendant, which was a conditional discharge for two years.
