Four police officers had to restrain a 29-year-old man who refused to leave his ex-partner’s house in Lurgan, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

Lukasz Sadkowski, Woodville Street, admitted resisting police on December 24. He was put on probation for 18 months.

The court heard that police were called to an address in Lurgan. The defendant’s ex-partner was the sole name on the tenancy agreement.

Sadkowski struggled and tried to break free. He was handcuffed but he screamed at police and tried to throw his bodyweight into an officer.

A barrister said his ex-partner now had a harassment order in place for two years.

The lawyer said Sadkowski clearly had an alcohol problem but he went into a detox programme in December and since then had been abstinent.

He suggested that a probation order with a programme to help him stay away from alcohol would be appropriate.

Deputy District Judge, Mr Sean O’Hare, impose dprobation but warned the defendant if he did not co-operate he would be brought back to court and re-sentenced.
