BUDDING athletes and fun runners alike are being urged to get their running shoes at the ready and sign up for the annual Craigavon Lakes 10km race and fun run taking place on Wednesday, June 6.
Organised by Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with St Peter’s Athletic Club, the route starts and finishes at Craigavon Watersports Centre and will take in the pathways around the picturesque Craigavon Lakes and City Parks areas.
For those participants who don’t fancy 10km, there will also be a 5km fun run and a 1km family challenge throughout the evening. The 1km family challenge is open to everyone and can be completed by running or walking.
Proceeds from all entrants will go to Macmillan Cancer Support and sponsorship forms will be available.
The family fun run will kick off proceedings at 6.45pm with the 5km and 10km starting at 7pm.
Craigavon Borough Council’s Sports Development Officer Wanda Rea said: “The event promises to be a great sporting spectacle with runners of all abilities getting together to raise vital funds for charity, keep fit and have fun with family and friends.”
Dwyer O’Hagan from St Peter’s Athletics Club added: “This is an excellent event which has something for everyone, from the serious athlete to those who simply wish to participate for fun.”
