MEMBERS of the Ulster Unionist Council Group have met with representatives of the Southern Trust and Consultants from Craigavon Area Hospital Emergency Department.
The Group, led by Councillor Kenneth Twyble, received an hour long briefing on the developing work in A&E and some of the serious issues facing staff.
Commenting Councillor Twyble said: “It was very beneficial for us to meet with and hear the work being undertaken by the Southern Trust and the Emergency Department in particular. As a party, the Ulster Unionists are deeply concerned by the many challenges facing the health service, and especially Craigavon Area.
“We were heartened to hear of the recent appointment of four new consultants, and the shift pattern worked out that ensures senior clinicians are on duty at key times in the Emergency department.
“We commend the work of the staff in A&E and the work they do for so many people right across Northern Ireland.”
