Jay Beatty invited to Sports Personality of the Year

Celtic fan Jay Beatty has been invited to the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

The special event is to be held in Belfast for the first time since it went on the road six years ago.

Jay has had a roller coaster year and has been appointed an Ambassador for his beloved Celtic Club.

Recently he was personally invited to a Paulo Nutini concert in Glasgow.

The 11-year-old who has Downs Syndrome, also won Scotland’s Goal of the Month competition after proving massive hit with football fans.

He also won Spirit of Northern Ireland Award.

The Sports Personality of the Year event is to be held at the SSE Arena in Belfast on Sunday December 20.

It will be covered live on the BBC One, BBC Radio 5 and BBC Sport website.

The awarding of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year has been a regular highlight of the sporting calendar since its inception in 1954.
