The awards ceremony will be held in the Ramada Hotel on March 18, with voting already open to the public.

Mrs Robinson who has been teaching for the past 27 years told the ‘MAIL’ that she is honoured to be nominated for the award.

She said: “I feel that it is a nomination on behalf of the entire team here in the nursery and the school itself.

“I am just deeply honoured for this award, this is recognition for all staff in the school not just myself.

“It’s an honour for me and the staff who have worked with the nursery team for the past six years.

“I have been in the nursery for six of the 27 years I have been in teaching.

“It’s a privilege for the St Patrick’s Aghacommon community as a whole.

“It reflects the hard working ethos of all staff, the quality of teaching and learning that goes on throughout the entire school.

“The majority of the staff within our school have been working together for many years.

“The majority of my teaching career has been dedicated to early years.

“I enjoy this experience immensely and take pride and satisfaction in seeing pupils make their first steps in school life.

“I get great satisfaction interacting with them and helping them progress at their level in all aspects of their learning.”

Mrs Robinson added that seeing the progression of children from nursery school right through St Patrick’s is very rewarding, she added: “I love getting the opportunity to go up to the main school and seeing the older pupils and seeing how much they have progressed over the years in St Patrick’s.”

Mrs Robinson was nominated for this award by Laura and Michael McKeever, who are parents of a child taught by Andrea last year.

Speaking about their nomination of Mrs Robinson, they said: “My little boy was diagnosed with ADSD and Mrs Robinson and her team have worked so hard to support him and enabled him to stay in main stream school.

“She is hard working and caring and creates a structure in her classroom that has given all her children tools to succeed in Primary one and beyond.”
