Man arrested after firefighters assaulted in Drumgor

A number of firefighters were assaulted while tackling a blaze in Drumgor Heights last night (Wednesday).

The assaults took place after a vehicle was set on fire and firefighters were working to extinguish it.

Police officers were also assaulted during the incident.

A police spokesperson said a 35-year-old man has been arrested and is in custody awaiting interview.

Chief Inspector Andrew Freeburn said, “At approximately 9.10pm, police received a report that a car was on fire. Police attended and at around 10pm a 35-year-old-man was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including arson, threats to kill, common assault and assault on police.”
