Man ‘embarrassed and shamed’ over his abuse to police

A 19-year-old man who was ‘embarrassed and shamed’ at his actions was fined £150 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for disorderly behaviour.

Dillon O’Connor, Drumellan Gardens, Craigavon, was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on November 23 last year at half past midnight in Church Place, Lurgan, police were dealing with an intoxicated female.

The defendant became involved and became abusive to police. He was asked for his details but continued to shout and swear at police.

A barrister for O’Connor said that this was the last time he wanted to be at court.

She added that he was embarrassed and ashamed of his behaviour. He had consumed quite a lot of alcohol.

District Judge, Mr Alan White, said O’Connor had a previous conviction for this sort of behaviour.
