Man had cannabis in blood sample

A Portadown man was banned from driving for a year last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for being in charge of a car while unfit through drugs.

Tom Fraser (20), Connaught Park, was also fined £250.

The court heard that at 3am on October 9 Fraser was in the driver’s seat of a car at Meadow Lane in Portadown.

The keys were in the ignition and there was a smell of cannabis in the car.

There was cannabis found in the blood sample taken from the defendant.

A solicitor for Fraser said he had taken a small amount of cannabis but has been off drugs ever since this incident.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, said a message had to be sent out from the court.
