Misjudged speed of oncoming vehicle

When he misjudged the speed of an oncoming car while he was turning into a supermarket a 31-year-old man caused a collision.

Stuart Hamilton, Boggle Hill Road, Gilford, was fined £100 last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for driving without due care and attention on July 16 this year. He was also given three points.

The court heard that Hamilton was driving along the Castlewellan Road in Banbridge intending to turn right in Tescos.

He misjudged the distance and pulled across the path of another car causing a collision. A solicitor representing the defendant said there were two oncoming vehicles, Hamilton failed to assess the speed of the second vehicle.
