A ‘LOVELY and popular young woman’ is being laid to rest today (Thursday) following a tragic accident at home.

Mother of two Karen Magee, died from injuries received in a fall.

The 25-year-old passed away in Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital last Thursday (November 17).

It’s believed she died from head injuries sustained after falling down the stairs in her Drumbeg home earlier this month.

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Father Desmond Mooney, who will be conducting the funeral mass, described her as “a lovely and popular young woman”.

Friends of Ms Magee also posted a video tribute on YouTube earlier this week.

Tommy Sheridan, chair of Drumbeg Residents’ Association, said the entire community is in shock.

He said: “I know Karen’s family quite well, and everyone around here is devastated by her news.

“The death of this young woman certainly came as a shock to many, and I offer my sympathies to the bereaved.”

SDLP councillor Joe Nelson also expressed condolences to the Magee family.

“It’s sad to hear of the tragic loss of a young life,” he said.

“As an elected representative in the borough, I would like to express my sympathies and offer condolences to the family.”

The funeral will leave her sister’s home in Meadowbrook at 10am today for 11am requiem mass in St Anthony’s.

Burial will take place afterwards in St John’s Cemetery, Lylo.
