Two police officers received minor injuries after they stopped a vehicle which knocked over a member of the public last night (Saturday) at West St in Portadown.

A man was arrested for various motoring offences including driving with excess alcohol, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

Police were on foot patrol in the area at the time and were able to respond immediately after they observed the vehicle strike the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was shaken up and did not require immediate medical attention.

The driver was taken into custody and was four times over the legal limit, a police spokesman said.
