Shirley misses birthday trip to Japan but raises funds for Air Ambulance
Despite being unable to celebrate her milestone 60th birthday, a Richhill woman managed to raise money for the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.
Shirley Houghton was unable to travel to Japan for her 60th, or indeed have a party because of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions.
Instead she decided to take the opportunity to raise funds for a very good cause that she has been following for some years.
She asked all her friends and family to donate to the Air Ambulance NI instead of giving her presents.
It costs £2m per year to operate the Air Ambulance service. They are a registered charity and rely on support from the public and local businesses .
It is such an easy way to raise funds and Shirley would encourage anyone to set up the fundraiser via the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland Facebook page.
Since her birthday in April Shirley has raised a total of £500 for the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.
