A police vehicle was rammed and the police helicopter deployed to hunt down four suspects following a short pursuit incident.

Police have charged four males aged 14, 19, 20 and 23 with a number of offences including going equipped for burglary, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, dangerous driving, and failing to stop, report and remain where an accident occurred causing injury.

The charges are believed to relate to an incident in the Lurgan and Banbridge areas on Monday, April 12, involving the short police pursuit of a vehicle which ended with a police vehicle being rammed and the use of the police helicopter to locate the suspects in the surrounding area.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

The 14 year old is due to appear at Newry Youth Court on Monday, May 18. The 19 and 23-year-olds were due to appear at Armagh Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday) and the 20-year-old at Banbridge Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 7.
