Sinn Féin MLA John O’ Dowd has commended Craigavon pharmaceutical firm Almac on signing a deal with one of the world’s largest biotech firms which could be worth more than £200m.

The firm is to license a new cancer treatment to Californian firm Genentech.

Mr O’ Dowd said: “This latest international business deal by Almac once again puts this Portadown based firm on the global map and helps secure jobs and investment in the locally economy.

“Almac has never forgotten its roots and only last week participated in a conference organised by the local Council.”
