Power outage leaves 800 NI homes without electricity

More than 800 homes have been left without electricity after an outage this afternoon.

Homes in part of Portadown have been left without power.

Areas affected include Edgarstown, West Street and Mahon Road.

DUP Cllr Darryn Causby said he understands contractors hit a cable resulting in the outage.

He said engineers are en route to the contractor site and to the sub stations.

NI Electricity said the estimated restoration time is 6pm today.

Portadown SDLP Cllr Eamon McNeill said: “There’s currently a power outage in Edgarstown, West Street and Mahon Road areas.

“Hopefully it will be resolved soon and doesn’t cause too much inconvenience to residents.”
