Sterling work by Magheralin Community Association has been applauded by local MLA Jo-Anne Dobson.
The Ulster Unionist hailed their ‘dogged determination’ after a site meeting in the village praising their ability to achieve results for all of the people of the village.
After a meeting with Chairperson Caitriona Hughes and Vice Chairperson Harry Briggs, which involved discussions including the ongoing safety of footpaths within the village the local MLA said: “Community groups make a massive contribution to the lives of so many families in their areas and always have the best interests of their community at heart.
“I commend Caitriona, Harry and the whole team for what they are achieving in Magheralin.
“Following the meeting I have written to the Infrastructure Minister once again to relay further concerns and seek the support of Transport NI in both recognising these and making the necessary safety improvements which the community wish to see put in place as a matter of urgency.
“It was lovely to see the newly painted murals which the young people of the village have just completed.
“Their efforts have ensure that the village has been entered for the Housing Executive’s first ever ‘Cleaner and Greener Award’ scheme which will be judged in the near future. I commend the Association for their efforts and look forward to continuing to work alongside them in achieving their aims.”
