Proposals for the future management of Lough Neagh have been agreed by the Stormont Executive.
Rural Development Minister Michelle O’Neill welcomed the Executive’s agreement to her proposals to future public management arrangements for Lough Neagh.
The proposals studied the potential benefits of public ownership with the view to safeguarding the future of the lough.
The Minister said: “An effective development of Lough Neagh presents real opportunities for rural tourism and economic progress in its surrounding areas and indeed beyond. I want to exploit these opportunities... I have asked my officials to move forward with the consultation process for providing a more representative public management structure for Lough Neagh.”
