Put on probation
for drugs offences

A 25-year-old man was put on probation for 18 months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for drugs offences.

Darran Gallagher, whose address was given to the court as Oaktree Manor, Waringstown, admitted unlawful possession of cannabis resin on July 11 this year and unlawful possession of herbal cannabis on the same date.

The case had been adjourned from a previous court so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared.

The court heard that the drugs, valued at £30, were found during a search of the defendant’s home.

Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said Gallagher says in the report that he was no longer indulging in drugs and hopefully the penny has finally dropped.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, said she found it almost inconceivable a parent of young children would have a drug about them that could kill them.

“In your case not once but on numerous occasions,” she told Gallagher.
