Ram raiders have tried to steal a cash machine at Portadown train station.

The attempted theft of the ATM took place in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Just after 3.50am, police received a report of a window being smashed in the premises. It was then discovered there were straps around the cash machine and a vehicle had been used to try and drag it away.

Inspector Philip Shepherd said, “I would appeal to anyone who would have been in this area and noticed any suspicious activity to contact Lurgan Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
