Readiing towards '˜danger level'
Shortly after they received a report of a drunk driver in the Lurgan area police saw a car being driven erratically in Aghagallon.
Eamon David Mulholland (46), Loughview, Gawley’s Gate, was banned from driving for 12 months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court. He was also fined £150. On completion of a course for drink driving his ban would be reduced to nine months.
The court heard that on March 29 this year at 5pm police received a report of a car being driven in the Lurgan area by someone under the influence of alcohol.
They saw a vehicle swerving over the white line on the Whitehall Road, Aghagallon, before stopping outside the Derryhirk Inn. Mulholland gave an evidential breath test which gave a reading of 95.
A defence solicitor said he had been drinking quite heavily into the early hours of the morning.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said the reading was towards the danger level but had not passed the three figure mark and Mulholland had no convictions for ten years and nothing to do with alcohol or driving.
