The Lurgan District Lodge will travel to Bessbrook on Monday 13th July to participate in County Armagh’s annual Twelfth celebrations.
The twenty lodges will be accompanied by four bands: Upper Bann Fusiliers; Armadale, Scotland; Craigavon Protestant Boys and Broxburn Loyalists, Scotland - along with four Lambeg drums.
Brethren will start to gather at Brownlow House from 7.30am, with a short religious service at 7.45am. The parade will move off from Brownlow House at 8am to board the buses at Russell Drive at 9am. The Parade will start in Bessbrook at 10am and Lurgan will be 6th in the parade after Keady District Lodge. After the platform proceedings in the demonstration field, Lurgan will be the first lodge out and will be parading in Lurgan from the Hospital at 4.30pm.
District Master W Bro David Martin commented: “As a district, we have had an exceptional year with more and more people joining the lodge - and we plan to build on this for next year. Bessbrook is quite a distance to travel, but there will be room on our buses for supporters. Tickets can be purchased on the bus at £10 for adults and £6 for children.”
Stephen Kennedy, assistant minister of Hill Street Presbyterian Church in Lurgan, will deliver the religious address at the demonstration field in Bessbrook. Stephen, who has just completed a three year course at Union Theological College, is the son of Danny and Karen Kennedy and, with his father, is a member of Bessbrook Purple Star LOL No 959.
