A FREE Dog Healthcheck has been welcomed by Craigavon Sinn Fein Councillor Mark O’Dowd.

Cllr O’Dowd has called on dog owners who live in the Borough and who are receiving means tested benefits to take advantage of the free Healthcheck at Brownlow Community Hub.

The Sinn Féin Councillor explained that this offer of a free basic health check is the result of a partnership between the Dogs Trust and Craigavon Borough Council.

He advised those living in postcodes BT62 through to BT67 that qualified personnel will be in attendance at the Hub on both the thirteenth and fourteenth of May between 11:00am and 03:00pm.

Cllr O’Dowd said: “Amongst the services on offer are neutering, micro-chipping, vaccination and treatments to protect your dog from both fleas and worms. This is a drop in service and there is no need to make an appointment.

“As pet owners are only too well aware veterinary bills can be expensive and in a time when costs are rising and family incomes are dropping pet care may not be a priority. This is a great opportunity to have your dog’s heath checked and I would encourage owners take up this offer. Anyone seeking further information can contact the Dogs Trust on telephone 02825632820.”
