'˜Sitting at home in your bedroom smoking cannabis is not the best use of your life' says Judge

An 18-year-old man was fined £100 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for a drugs offence.

Louis Neill, Churchill Park, Portadown, admitted unlawful possession of cannabis on September 24 last year.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that during a search of the defendant’s home a small quantity of cannabis and herbal cannabis was found in his bedroom.

Neill admitted it belonged to him and was for his own personal use.

A barrister representing Neill it was only a very small amount involved.

Her client was already the subject of a combination order.

Deputy District Judge Neil Rafferty told the defendant he was not in the youth court any more and if he appeared in front of him for further offending he would be sent to prison.

“Sitting at home in your bedroom smoking cannabis is not the best use of your life,” the judge said to Neill.
