Southern Health Trust chief resigns

The Chief Executive of the Southern Health Trust, Kieran Donaghy, has resigned.

Mr Donaghy has been the interim chief executive for just three months and was officially appointed in early January.

In a letter from the Chairperson of the Trust, Roberta Brownlee, it was stated that Mr Donaghy was leaving for ‘personal reasons’.

The statement said: “Kieran Donaghy, has regrettably decided to step down from his post for personal reasons.”

Mr Donaghy had worked in a number of positions in the Eastern and Southern Board areas over the last 30 years. He held the post of Director of Human Resources at Craigavon and Banbridge Community Trust since 1990 and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Ms Brownlee added that stepping into the post will be Francis Rice who is already well known across the Trust in his role as Director of Mental Health and Learning Disability.

“As our Executive Director of Nursing, he will take up post as Interim Chief Executive with immediate effect,” she said.
