ST Mary’s Pipe Band achieved a notable success at the recent County Monaghan Championships, staged at Castleblayney.

In a highly competitive Grade Four group, this relatively young band claimed third place, the overall winners being the impressive Clogher and District.

Following the Grand Finale the band was also presented with the Duffy Cup for best on parade.

On receiving these trophies Pipe Major Conor McAlinden commented that this success was most gratifying as only two of the present line up had previous competition experience.

The band will perform a number of events over the summer. Next on the agenda is a guest appearance at the Argory in July.
