A two day event featuring Melanie C and Marc Almond will take place in Botanic Gardens on June 20 and 21.

Summer In The City features Robin Mark plus special guests on Friday, June 20 and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra on Saturday, June 21 with special guests Melanie C and Marc Almond. Tickets are on sale from the usual outlets.

Robin Mark has been leading worship in his home church, CFC, in Belfast, Northern Ireland for over 25 years. Indeed most of the inspiration for the worship songs he has written has come from the spiritual journey that he and the Belfast congregation have taken.

Jools Holland formed The Jools Holland Big Band – comprising himself and Gilson Lavis. This has gradually metamorphosed into the current 20-piece Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, which consists of pianist, organist, drummer, three female vocals, guitar, bass guitar, two tenor saxophones, two alto saxophones, baritone saxophone, three trumpets, and four trombones.

Melanie C is one of the five members of the Spice Girls, in which she was nicknamed Sporty Spice.

As a solo artist, Chisholm has sold more than 12 million records.

Marc Almond was born in Southport in 1957. An internationally acclaimed artist who has sold over 30 million records worldwide, he is an icon and an influence on a generation of musicians.

Over the years Marc has collaborated with a number of artists, including Nick Cave, Siouxsie Sioux, John Cale, Antony Hegarty, Baby Dee, Bronski Beat, Gene Pitney and PJ Proby amongst many others, and has toured regularly and collaborated with Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
