The Craigavon Civil Service Retirement Fellowship will start again on Tuesday, September 3, in Portadown Library at 2.30pm.
New members and their friends are always welcome. The meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month with a variety of guest speakers and the occasional outing.
The guest speaker at the May meeting was the well-known historian Dr. Frank McCorry who gave a very interesting talk on the history of the Lough Neagh area known as the Montiaghs.
The June meeting took the form of a summer outing to County Fermanagh with a cruise on the HMV Kestrel to Devenish. On this now uninhabited island a guide from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency gave a talk on Devenish’s history.
On returning to Enniskillen there was a visit to St. McCartan’s and St Michael’s churches. Members were delighted that Dean Hall gave a tour of the Cathedral and explained the significance of the recent visit of The Queen and Prince Philip.
The September meeting will be a talk by the Rev Bell, an expert on Bee Keeping.
