Three men deny Lorimer murder charge

THREE men have denied the alleged homophobic murder of a man who was kicked and beaten in his own flat before being left for dead.

The three; 22-year-old Richard Chester of no fixed address, Christopher Wright, 21, from Mount Zion House in Lurgan, and 19-year-old James Jordan from Princess Street, also Lurgan, all entered not guilty pleas at Belfast Crown Court to murdering Andrew Lorimer on February 3 last year.

The battered body of the 43-year-old was found by a burglar who coincidentally broke into his flat at in Portlec Place in Lurgan.

A previous court heard how evidence suggested he had been kicked and beaten with a hammer and also that he would have remained alive for a number of hours after the fatal attack.

On Friday, lawyers for both the defence and prosecution said there were matters of disclosure to be dealt with before the case could progress.

Mr Justice Weir remanded all three back into custody and said he would review the case in early May.
