THERE was considerable police presence in the town on Sunday night after three men broke into a house in Woodville Gate.
At around 8.15pm, three men, two with masks over their faces, entered a house in the area.
One of the intruders, who had a firearm, punched the male householder and hit him with the weapon.
It’s understood the woman living in the house managed to escape unharmed.
‘MAIL’ sources believe it may have been an attempted tiger kidnapping, although police declined to comment on that.
The three men made off across a grass field between Woodville and Ashgrove.
It’s also believed they exited this area around Allenhill Drive, where they may have made off in a car.
A PSNI helicopter was in operation over the town after the incident.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the three men in the Woodville or Allenhill area or has any information in relation to this incident.
They can be contacted at Lurgan CID on 0845 600 8000. If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
