A fine of £75 was imposed for a defective tyre and he was fined £25 for failing to produce his licence.

The court heard Rodgers was stopped at 8.50pm while driving on the Sugar Island Road and police noticed the front nearside tyre was defective.

He was asked to produce his licence which he did not do and it transpired there was no insurance in place for the vehicle.

Mr Peter Murphy, representing the defendant, said there were no points on his client’s licence.

He explained that Rodgers had bought the car and took the risk of getting it home but was caught by the police.
