Took out policy after he was stopped

Within hours from the time he was stopped for driving without insurance a 25-year-old man took out a new policy.

Samuel Cirpaci, Goban Street, Portadown, was fined £150 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for not having insurance on February 29 this year.

He was also given six points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard he was stopped at 7.55am in Hanover Street and said he had valid insurance. He was asked to produce it at a police station but failed to do so. Further checks revealed he had taken out insurance at 9.55am on the day he was stopped by police.
